Making waves stipend – closed

The Making Waves travel grant!

The Making Waves travel grant is supported by the Voice of the Ocean Foundation, to ensure that those who should, and want, to attend IUGC 2024 are able to. The grant will be assessed on contribution, or potential contribution, to the community as best as possible, with secondary factors  focused on inclusivity (such as career stage, geographical location and gender amongst others). To qualify, the applicant must have submitted an abstract to the conference (oral or poster), and indicated on that abstract submission that they will apply for the grant.

In addition to exceptional community contributions and inclusivity factors, preferential funding examples could include:

  • Someone who is setting up a glider facility or research program for the first time
  • Someone who has had significant impact on operational, research or policy matters relating to gliders.
  • Someone who has current or future plans to push boundaries and test capabilities of gliders

We initially intend that the Making Waves travel grant will support awardees across travel, accommodation and registration costs. Depending on the final applications and allocation of funds, we may aim to extend this to a larger group of applicants, but be restricted to partial coverage of travel/accommodation.

We ask all applicants to consider whether they are in need of additional funding before applying for this grant, to ensure that the funds are available for those who are in need. We strive for good representation of early career researchers at the conference, and will take this into consideration when allocating funds.

Application for the travel grant is now closed, fill in the form here.

The Making Waves travel grant closed on February 29 2024, with decisions being released in conjunction with abstract decisions.
